This new anthology collects stories and experiences from a diverse group of parents and writers to celebrate families in all their many forms.

Rad Families includes an interview I did with Carla Bergman on “Building a Community of Parents.”(Check out her new project, Parenting at the Edges, a podcast series about rad parenting and children’s liberation).

Rad Families will be out in September 2016.

Building a Community of Parents: An Interview with Carla Bergman

rad dad cover - Summer 2014

The latest issue of Rad Dad is out and includes an interview I did with Carla Bergman, the director of The Purple Thistle, a youth-run arts and activist centre in East Vancouver.

Rad Dad is the winner of the SF Bay Guardian’s best local zine and Utne Magazine’s Independent Media Award. The magazine strives to reflect the diverse, eclectic experience of fathering and parenting from a radical perspective.

In my interview with Carla, we discuss the perils of parenting in isolation, some easy steps folks can take to build connections with other parents (for the benefit of adults and kids alike), and how politics and parenting can mingle successfully.

Check out the Rad Dad blog to find out where you can pick up a copy or order online.

rdcover

Rad Dad is coming to town!

Tomas Moniz, founding editor of Rad Dad, a Bay Area-based national parenting magazine will be in Vancouver on February 26th as part of a series of “relaunch celebrations.”

Rad Dad is the winner of the SF Bay Guardian’s best local zine and Utne Magazine’s Independent Media Award. The magazine strives to reflect the diverse, eclectic experience of fathering and parenting from a radical perspective. You can also check out Rad Dad: Dispatches from the Frontiers of Fatherhood, an anthology of  the best pieces from Rad Dad and the blog Daddy Dialectic, which both explore parenting as political territory.

The celebration is an all-ages event and will be held at The Purple Thistle in East Vancouver. Other folks in attendance include the wonderful Carla Joy Bergman, Nick Flynn, and Dani Burlison. I’ll be in attendance and reading an excerpt from Stay Solid!

Check out the Facebook event invite here.
